We are delighted with the new banners, flyers, and business cards provided by local company, Tayvista. The responsive service meant that we were able to showcase the materials at each of the recent conferences in Glasgow and Harrogate to spread the word.

The Independent Review of Learning Disability and Autism in the Mental Health Act

We are delighted to annouce that TAAUK will provide direct support for The Independent Review of Learning Disability and Autism in the Mental Health Act. In so doing we will support a number of individuals and their family to meet with the review team to share their experiences of the Mental Health Act.

General Member of the British Psychological Society Division of Clinical Psychology

Damien has had his application accepted to become a General Member of the British Psychological Society Division of Clinical Psychology (Note: access to some sections of the site require membership). This will allow Damien and TAAUK to be at the forefront of developments in Clinical Psychology within the UK

The first item on the agenda will be to attend the Division's Annual Conference (23-24 January 2019, Renaissance Manchester City Centre Hotel).

Journal of Public Health: No health without "mental health"

June 2018

Damien has had an article published in the Journal of Public Health in the Correspondence section. The article offers a critical reflection on the use of the term "mental health" at the Faculty of Public Health in Scotland Annual Conference in November 2017.

DISCO training

The Lorna Wing Centre for Autism

9th Lancaster Disabilitiy Studies Conference

We are delighted to announce that Claire has been invited to sit on a symposium panel at the 9th Lancaster Disability Studies Conference. The symposium - Major work ahead, the post psychiatric landscape of Autism - is part of the Critical Dialogues in Neurodiversity stream and will take place in GF4 at 16:15-17:15 on Wednesday 12th October. It is chaired by the eminent Larry Arnold, and other panelists include: Gillian Loomes Gillian (University of York), Stephen Kapp (University of Exeter), and Dinah Murray (National Autistic Taskforce).

Congratulations to Bethany!

We are delighted to announce that Bethany (TAAUK animal therapy manager) has successfully completed the 4-day Camelidynamics handling course run by the founder of Camelidynamics - Marty McGee Bennett - organised by Simply Alpaca (28th-31st August 2018). Many congratualtions on becoming a camelidynamics practitioner, Bethany!

 

We will take delivery of our first herd of Cria (baby Alpaca) boys in Spring 2019. Stay tuned for updates and developments with our animal therapy activity.

The knowledge and skills will prove invaluable when we take delivery of our Cria (baby Alpaca) boys in Spring 2019.
